Altra Zero Drop Ambassador

I am extremely excited to announce that I have been selected to be a part of the Altra team as an Altra Zero Drop Ambassador!
I have been running in Altra shoes exclusively for almost a year now and the difference has been amazing.  After being plagued by foot injuries (PF, achilles tendonitis, neuroma) off and on for years, I have finally found a shoe that works with my feet.  Healthy feet means I can train harder and run happier.
I am looking forward to representing a company that is redefining the way we run. If you haven't checked out Altras yet get a look at their fantastic products or check out their blog for a look at some of the incredible Altra athletes.

  1. Congrats on your new blog and Altra sponsorship . Great race and fast time at HURT! Just a few questions if I might: 1. What shoes did you wear at HURT, one of the roughest courses out there? 2. I'm very interested in hearing more about your "Softrock" FKT attempt. When? Same route as the Hardrock course? What is the current FKT? If unsupported over the same course, might it more appropriately be called "HarderRock"? Might others join you on this grand adventure? Happy trails. HillBilly

  2. Thanks OldGoat/HillBilly! HURT is definitely one of the most rugged courses I've run yet but also quite beautiful and one one that should be on every ultrarunner's bucket list. I wore my Altra Superiors and Drymax socks. Not a single shoe or sock change and my feet felt great! I was a little apprehensive about wearing such a light shoe on such a tough course and had my Altra Lone Peaks on standby but never felt the need to change.
As for "Softrock" I will post a more in-depth review as the event draws nearer.

  3. Congrats A-Boy on gaining an ambassador position with Altra. They look like a good choice of shoe to keep your feet strong. I saw some of your posts from "Hurt" and it looked like you had a great race with excellent help from your crew. I also would be interested in hearing more about the "SoftRock" FKT. When? Where? and is any OLD HillBilly able to join? I look forward to hearing more about your adventures.

  4. KQ, Thanks for commenting. My crew was key to my performance at HURT and I actually plan to post a piece on crewing in the near future. As for "Softrock", I will say this for now: It will happen approximately a week before Hardrock. It will follow the Hardrock 100 course but may start/finish in Ouray for logistical reasons. I welcome any who would like to join for part or all of the 100 miles but caution that this will NOT be an organized event. Any who would like to join will be responsible for ALL of their own supplies, shuttling, etc. Please comment if you are interested. Again, I will also be posting more substantial information as the event nears.
